One reason believers say "I believe it" or "I have faith" instead of giving an answer, is, theyre in default mode: they lack the knowledge of the Bible.... and its teaching from the church. Either they haven't attended discipleship and evangelism classes, haven't read books that are apologetically helpful and likely don't know how to share the gospel either. But also... it doesn't mean they don't know know, they just don't know how to articulate it. What they're saying is "I have believed and trusted based on the evidence and God's Revelation, I've understood and trust in what I've learned in Sunday School, in reading bits of the Bible, but also from Sermons.
