Giving God Ultimatums?
Q: Can we give God an ultimatum? For example: “God, if You don’t come through for me on "this", then I’m going to do it my way. I’m going to do me”. A: I think it's shows a lack of understanding about God, and a humans position. God loves us, but He owes us absolutely nothing. If we just do what we want, we are turning to darkness. We are the one who lose, not God. "The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom", Proverbs 9:10. Turning from God because we didn't get our way is not fearing God...is foolishness. He’s the Creator, the ruler over of all creation. For believers he is our Father and as the parent we are the child. We are subject to God, he is not subject to us. When we chose our way over God’s way, we take him off the throne; we’ve decided our plan is better than his, and that's idolatry.
