The wise fear God. They have a clear understanding who He is and what He has revealed throughout Scripture of Himself.  Reverent Fear also called filial fear or holy fear, is central to the Christian life. 1. What it is not You’re correct—it’s not the fear that’s your friend (like casual anxiety or human respect that makes God “nice” to you), and it’s not fear that’s your enemy (like paralyzing terror, despair, or avoidance of God). • Not friendly fear: This is the kind of fear that makes God seem optional or just a cosmic buddy—you’re not truly oriented toward His holiness. • Not fearful terror: This fear enslaves or paralyzes; it drives you away from God because of dread, shame, or panic. 2. What it is The reverent fear of God is a holy awe and deep respect, rooted in the knowledge of God’s majesty, holiness, and justice, as well as His love and covenant mercy.  Q:  a God who wants you to fear his wrath. That's not loving is it? A: God has perfect attributes. His ways are far beyond and above ours. As our Creator we are to have a proper fear of Him, and also about the consequences of our sins.  There is good fear and bad fear.  You wouldn't jump out a plane 10k ft up without a parachute. And you need Jesus [like a parachute] b4 you step off the cliff of eternity. God tries to reason with people that their sin drags them to hell. He doesn't want any to perish. But he is just and Holy and must punish sin. So He did everything to provide the fix. It can be fixed thanks to Jesus.  There is nothing to fear if you remove what causes the fear. You sin and are under God's wrath since he must punish sin. Hell was made for the fallen angels [demons] but God must punish sin, and therefore has a eternal place where never ending wrath is poured out.  And it is where he will send people who die in their sins.  Remove the p...
